Uses of a Portable Breath Tester

04 November, 2021

You may have seen a portable breath tester in television shows or movies before; but there is more use of these devices than in highways used by the cops to catch drunk drivers. One way of measuring an individual’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) is with a breath alcohol testing device; specifically, a portable breath tester.

A portable breath tester varies depending on its use and degree of sophistication. Some portable breath testers come with a keychain so you can easily attach it to your keys, bag, or purse. Although having the size of merely a finger, these devices claim their effectiveness is still excellent. Other portable breath testers brag about being the most accurate and consistent after several uses. Some brands, like BACtrack, took their innovation to the next level by enabling their products to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Law enforcement officers use portable breath testers for obvious reasons, catching intoxicated drivers, conducting alcohol tests during traffic stops or when an accident happens; and charging them with driving under the influence (DUI) fines and other corresponding violations. Other than the authorities, it is not a surprise that consumers are starting to use these portable breath testers for their safety.

Personal and Workplace Portable Breath Testers

We all have that one time when we are having a great time with friends at the bar when suddenly you realize that you still have to drive home. Rather than making a wild guess about your BAC, bringing a portable breath tester can be a good idea if you want to be extra certain. One drink of alcoholic beverage is all it takes to change the alcohol content in your blood then you’ll be risking a fine; or worse, your or someone else’s life.

Most people in the workplace find intoxicated colleagues very unpleasing. We are not ignorant of the dangers alcohol brings. The alcohol-affected individual may not display a clear assessment of their work fitness. So it’s not surprising why some companies implement voluntary or mandatory alcohol tests. A well-thought-out policy must include an alcohol testing program, in which employers can use provisions to detect who in their staff are intoxicated at work. Using a portable breath tester is a method favored by employers because of its efficiency and convenience.

If you own a bar, a nightclub, a comedy club, or any other establishment where you usually consume alcohol, it is best to have a portable breath tester. You don’t want words spreading that you are an irresponsible owner with no concern for its patrons. Prevent people from starting a fight because of their clouded judgment.
